This California Privacy Rights Notice ("CA Notice") applies to California residents and supplements our general Privacy Policy. It is provided pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 ("CCPA") and the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 ("CPRA"), collectively referred to as "California Privacy Laws."
1. Categories of Personal Information We Collect
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information from California consumers:
- Identifiers: IP address, browser identifiers, and cookie IDs collected automatically when you visit our Site. Name and email address if you submit our contact form.
- Internet or other electronic network activity: Browsing history on our Site, pages visited, links clicked, and usage data.

You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing
You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Napa Chronicle does not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Therefore, this right is not applicable to our practices.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information
You have the right to limit our use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by CPRA.
Right to Non-Discrimination
You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your privacy rights. We will not deny services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised your rights.
5. How to Submit a Request
To exercise any of your California privacy rights, you may submit a request by:
- Emailing us at editor@napachronicle.com with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line
- Using our Contact Form and selecting "General Question" as the subject
We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days of receipt. If we require more time (up to 90 days total), we will inform you of the reason and extension in writing.
We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. For requests submitted on behalf of another person, we will require proof of authorization.
6. Authorized Agent
You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. The authorized agent must submit written proof that they are authorized to act on your behalf, and we may require you to verify your own identity directly with us.
7. California "Shine the Light" Law
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. As stated above, we do not share personal information with third parties for direct marketing purposes and therefore do not have disclosures to make under this provision.
8. Do Not Track
Our Site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals from web browsers. However, you can control cookies through your browser settings as described in our Cookie Policy.
